The EOS Canon 500D, Canon’s newest addition to its EOS class of Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras, is packed with a lot of impressive new features.

According to experts, the performance of a digital camera is determined largely by the lens, the image sensor and the image processor. The EOS Canon 500D has all these and more. From its clear view LCD display, to its highly efficient DIGIC 4 processor, to its fully functional lenses, up to the all new full high definition video recording capacity.

The EOS Canon 500D has a 22.3 x 14.9mm CMOS image sensor, with approximately 15.1 effective megapixels and a total of 15.5 megapixels. It has a built-in or fixed low-pass filter with a self cleaning sensor unit. It has an EOS integrated cleaning system and a primary color filter type. Its LCD monitor is a 3.0″ TFT, with approximately 920,000 dots, which provides the users with clear image view. It has approximately 100% coverage and a viewing angle of approximately 170%, vertically and horizontally. It has a Pentamirror viewfinder, with approximately 95% vertical and horizontal coverage. It has a magnification capacity of approximately 0.87x.

The unit has a Canon DIGIC 4 image processor. The DIGIC 4, which is the latest version of Canon’s digital image processors, provides spectacular improvements to image quality. Not only does it dramatically enhance images, it also improves processing speed. The processor provides outstanding noise reduction capacities and allows up to 3.4 fps continuous shooting speeds in up to 170 JPEG bursts.

The EOS Canon 500D is compatible with the Canon Electro-Focus (EF) and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites.  Its focal length is equivalent to 1.6x the focal length of its lens.  It also has a TTL-CT-SIR with a CMOS sensor and a 9-point AF System. It has an f/5.6 cross type AF point at the center, which is extra sensitive at f/2.8. Its AF working range is at 23°C and ISO 100 (EV -0.5 -18).  It allows for predictive auto-focusing up to 10m, and gives the user automatic or manual AF point selections. It has a selected AF point display, which is superimposed in the viewfinder and which is indicated on the LCD monitor. Users can select for manual focus on lens, which is a default setting in the Live View Mode.

To allow for maximum image capture, the EOS Canon 500D has electronically-controlled focal-plane shutters with speeds of 30-1/4000 seconds. The unit’s available range varies depending on the shooting mode.

These are just a few of the must-love features of the EOS Canon 500D. No wonder the EOS Canon 500D comes highly recommended.
